Haute Dining at Monettes on Hawaii Island

Monettes Artisan Fish and Steak restaurant at the iconic Mauna Kea Beach Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii begins the summer season with two key appointments to its management team and an exciting new series of monthly “Artisan Growers Dinners.”

“We are delighted to welcome Michael Minshull, most recently with the prestigious Hotel Grand Pacific in Victoria, British Columbia, to Monettes as he takes over the reins as chef de cuisine,” says founder and co-owner Scott Monette.

Barry Chu, a 35-year veteran of the fine dining scene in Hawaii, also joins the team at Monettes as restaurant general manager. “He’s a seasoned professional who has a passion for the business and a personality that exudes aloha,” Monette says.

“This dynamic duo, working with my brother Mark, co-owner and executive chef, hit the ground running and will debut a new series of monthly dinners showcasing Hawaii’s local artisan growers in early June…Our goal is to raise awareness about the diversity and quality of foods grown right here in the islands.”

The first in what promises to be a long-running series of dinners at Monettes debuts Wednesday, June 8 and features the owners/growers of Adaptions Farms and Koa Coffee. Reception at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7:15 p.m.

The five-course prix fixe dinner is offered at $55 per person without the suggested wine pairings; $85 per person with the wines, plus tax and gratuity. Space is limited and reservations are required. Please phone
