Haute Event: Bouquets to Arts Gala at deYoung Fine Arts Museum

Art and beautiful arrangements of flowers unite for the Bouquets to Arts Gala at the de Young Fine Arts Museum. Held from March 15 to 19, local florists are invited to visit the museum by The Museum Auxiliary and choose a work of art they choose to make a floral design inspired by it. There are many rules that are to be followed by the florists. It has to be very creative and it has to be able to survive a week and not wilt or fall apart. It cannot contain pods, dried branches, moss, wood, wool fabric, and so on, so that the exhibits don’t become infested with bugs.

It had a Spanish theme to it with Spanish music, decor, and tapas. The museum was getting ready to kick off its newest exhibit, Balenciaga and Spain, which opened on March 26. The new exhibit looks at the impact of Spain’s culture, history, and art of courtier Cristobal Balenciaga by showcasing some of his most amazing outfits.
