HAutos: The Innovative New 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLK Class with Magic Sky Control Technology

After offering the world a sneak peek at New York’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Mercedes-Benz is finally releasing their all-new 2012 SLK-Class. This sophisticated third generation SLK class brings its driver superior comfort with an undoubtedly athletic flair.  Prepared for an enjoyable ride in all types of weather and situations, the new roadster is also the most fuel efficient in its class and heralds segment-leading safety. Offering a wide range of technical alternatives allows drivers to lend their personal flair to the sleek machine.

The new generation boasts a wealth of ugraded features compared to its already well-equipped predecessor, including new generation 4 and 6-cylinder direct injection engines, cutting-edge Attention Assist technology, a 5.8-inch color display with Bluetooth capability, full LED tail lights, an optimized seven-speed 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission, advanced tire pressure loss warning system, and more.

Luxurious new extras are also available for those who want it all, including Solar Red ambient lighting, COMAND system with a 7-inch color display and central controller, Bi-xenon headlamps with active curve illumination, Keyless-Go technology, Parktronic with parking guidance, Airguide wind-stop, analog dashboard clock for that ever-hip vintage flair, and a panoramic retractable hardtop, with or without Magic Sky Control.

What is Magic Sky Control? This option is an exclusive world premiere. The panoramic glass roof with Magic Sky Control lends driver (or lucky passenger) an option to switch the roof to a light or dark transparency at the press of a button. Based on the physics of a plate condenser, the glass structure allows one to control the distribution of its particles, making it subject to one’s personal preference – light or dark. In light mode, the glass is virtually transparent, offering the experience of an exhilarating open-air ride, even in cold weather, while still effectively blocking UV and infrared light. In its dark state, the roof provides refreshing shade from the sun and prevents the car from heating up on those hot days while providing superior insulation, helping the interior parts cooler by up to 18 degrees Fahrenheit compared to conventional tinted glass.

With this new class set to release early this June, we can hardly wait.
