Haute Fashion: Prada’s Creepers are Spring’s Hottest Trend

If you happened to miss what the House of Frankenstein Prada sent down their runway last Milan Fashion Week, here is your chance to catch a second glimpse of what a $795 Skechers ShapeUp looks like.

Prada is bringing back their runway shoe this spring; the must-have, fittingly, is titled the “Creeper”- an updated spin on the classic brothel creeper of the 1950s. Positioned as a hybrid of oxford, espadrille and sneaker, it in my eyes resembles a white-collar clown shoe. Oxford through the body, espadrille and sneaker through the sole- Prada really hit the mark in their quest for a shoe with “subversive sexiness”…geek chic (Fashionista.com)

The shoe first took over the fashion scene blowing out of stores in the United Kingdom, and it is now that Creeper Fever has crossed the pond. The first small shipment sold out in all Manhattan Prada boutiques last month, and there is quite the waiting list for those of you Cash for (Prada) Clunker enthusiasts.

They will soon offer customization options based on color and platform height desirability. Apparently all it takes to become an “it-person” this spring is 6-8 weeks, $900, peculiar taste and incredibly strong ankles.

In all seriousness, Kudos to Prada for breaking the mold with this one. I do have one concern however that I believe they failed to work through; with the soon-to-be influx of these weighty Creepers on our tootsies, mothers everywhere will be calling out after us to not drag our feet as we walk.
