Haute Event: Penn Badgley, Maria Sharapova Test World’s First PlayStation Certified Smartphone, Xperia PLAY

On Tuesday, March 22, Sony Ericsson hosted an exclusive event at the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Lounge at the Paris Theatre in Miami Beach to debut the world’s first PlayStation Certified Android smartphone, Xperia PLAY. Gossip Girl’s Penn Badgley and professional tennis player Maria Sharapova were both in attandance as well as Major League Gaming Pro Gamers, Tom ‘Tsquared’ Taylor and Danish ‘DMAQ’ Maqbool, as well as several prominent South Florida residents, including Sarah Arison, Jorge Arevalo, and Lara Shriftman.

The exclusive VIP lounge featured two different areas where guests could experience all the aspects of the newest product, with one focused on consumers’ needs and the other dedicated to consumers’ wants. Guests traveled through one area to the next with guidance from brand ambassadors who helped showcase all of the features available, and to display the superior graphics, sound, and complete inner workings of the Xperia PLAY.

Throughout the night, guests were entertained with upbeat party mixes provided by DJ DIPLO while they munched on food perfectly suited for such a laid back and fun event, but with a refined twist; some of the Hors d’ouevres that were served included mini sliders with a side of French fries drizzled in truffle oil while the desserts consisted of milk and cookies and mini ice cream cones served on tennis rackets. The playfulness of the food combined with the buzzing atmosphere no doubt enabled everyone there to indulge their inner child and enjoy the night.
