Between the fashions on the runway and the 115 artists in the showcase, the Palm Beach Fine Craft Show has something to tickle the fancy of anyone who appreciates beautiful objets d’art. For its eighth year, the show will take over the Palm Beach Convention Center for three full days, offering opportunities to meet the artists, listen to speakers and, of course, walk away with a little something for your own home or closet.
What makes this show unique is not only the vast number of highly skilled artists, but also the two fashion shows taking place on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5. With jewelry, clothing and accessories by more than two dozen designers from across the country, the Fine Craft Show offers high-quality fashion without the commute to Miami.
Whether your style is practical or couture, you will find designs that intrigue and appeal to you. Look to handbag designers Michael and Michelle LaLonde for tasteful designs and interesting color choices in luxurious lambsuede. The designers’ evening bags are especially gorgeous, with intricate beading and patterns.
Working in various colors of gold, jeweler Judith Kaufman creates works of wearable art that incorporate glass beads, diamonds and semi-precious stone. Her pieces are both natural and tribal in design, with some pieces showcasing brightly-colored stones in angular settings and others combining understated diamonds with curving designs that seem to have an innate sense of movement and flow. Expect a similar sense of flow from designer Keiko Mita’s sand dune collection. With nautilus-like spirals infused with sparkling diamonds, Mita’s jewels would be at home in any Palm Beach woman’s wardrobe.
The show will be taking place March 4 and 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and March 6 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fashion shows will be at 1 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit CraftsAmericaShows.com.
