The Golden Gate Club in San Francisco set the stage for the 50th Anniversary celebrations for the Conard House Fundraising Gala, held on Thursday February 24, 2011. Guests were entertained throughout the evening by Emmy Award Winning ABC-7 News Co-Anchor Cheryl Jennings, dined on edible delights prepared by the famed Melons Catering Company and took part in a live and silent auction to raise funds for the cause. The list of events at the Gala also included honoring KQED Public Radio’s program “Health Dialogues” with the First Annual 2011 Elaine Mikel Award and a $5,000 check presentation for its immense coverage supporting the issues, awareness and causes within the community on mental illness, related disorders, chronic illness and health disparities.
The Gala’s celebrations were hosted by Co-Chairs Mylea Charvat Walther, Conard House Vice-Chair Of the Board and Donna Ames-Heldfond. Also in attendance were Conard House Founding Board Members Merla Zellerbach and Glady Thacher. Proceeds from the evenings success helped to support Conard House’s five year initiative plan of Community-Supported Self-Management where their goal is to reduce health disparities for people with mental disorders by improving their personal physical and psychological health outcomes. Conard House is continuing its efforts within the San Francisco community in aiding people suffering with serious mental disorders with their successful program which incorporates housing, counseling, treatment, employment and life-skill training to encourage them to live successfully independent lives.
The evenings events and financial support helped to bring future success to Conard House’s admiral and continuous winning over the battle of mental health disorders taking over peoples freedom and lives.
