Haute Event: Britney Spears Debuts Femme Fatale at Rain Nightclub

Britney Spears debuts her new single "Big Fat Bass" at Rain Nightclub at the Palms.

It started as a surprise performance. The marquee at the Palms even said as much. But throughout the week it leaked out that Britney Spears was performing at the Palm as part of an MTV special. By Friday, and the marquee said as much.

Spears made her return to Vegas in two performances at Rain Nightclub last night, all in front of the rolling cameras, in anticipation of her new album, Femme Fatale. MTV plans to air the footage next week.

More than 1,000 fans nabbed tickets to see Spears perform three cuts: “Hold it Against Me,” “Till the World Ends” and “Big Fat Bass.”

“We are extremely excited to have one of the most iconic artists of all time back at the Palms. Britney’s performances were unbelievable and her fans will never forget this night,” said Palms owner George Maloof. “We have a great relationship with MTV and feel fortunate to be a part of her upcoming special.”

Spears pulled a similar stunt in 2003 at Rain when she stunned fans with an unannounced performance.

DJ Pauly D, the exclusive Vegas resident deejay for the Palms, warmed up the crowd and kicked off the evening before Spears took the stage.

Femme Fatale is Spears’ seventh studio album and will be released on March 29.
