Haute Event: “An Evening in Spain” Grand Opening Event at Fig & Olive West Hollywood

Not too long ago, we introduced you to Fig & Olive owner Laurent Halasz’ newest restaurant, nestled in the chic West Hollywood neighborhood of Melrose Place. Last night, we got an exclusive sneak peak of the restaurant when we were invited to “An Evening in Spain” featuring red carpet arrivals, Moët & Chandon champagne, innovative cocktails, light appetizers and exquisite desserts.

Immediately upon arrival, we were greeted with flutes of Moët champagne adorned with gold balls enclosed with gifts. We were then whisked into a Mediterranean oasis of stark white walls, blonde woods and orange couches, accented by dark green rosemary plants. The setting, along with resident DJ Julien Nolan’s stellar selection of lounge music, created a seductively sultry ambiance to mix and mingle with the city’s socialites.

Michelin-star guest chefs Sebastien Chambru and Serge Gouloumés joined Executive Chef Pascal Lorange to create mouthwatering, bite-sized, Mediterranean-inspired appetizers. The food was as fresh, light and invigorating as was Fig & Olive’s décor, and our favorites were the assorted crostinis and the spinach tortilla.

The chefs weren’t the only ones conjuring up memorable treats; the bartenders poured three signature cocktails throughout the night. With a tangy bite to it, the red sangria put an intriguing twist on the classic Spanish beverage. The Summer in Barcelona was a delightful blend of sweet and strong flavors, and of course, we could never go wrong with the traditional dirty martini. White and red wines were also available.

More than 500+ attendees packed the airy space, including Halasz and Richard Galy, the special honoree and Mayor of Mougins, South of France. Halasz briefly spoke in front of a rather dapper and sophisticated crowd, including prominent key figures from the local West Hollywood neighborhood, media guests, well-known bloggers, high-end hotels and luxury fashion houses, to name a few.

Fig & Olive has boldly transformed the former Republic nightclub venue into an tranquil destination marked by clean lines and an airy atmosphere accented by lush greenery.  It is the fifth Fig & Olive restaurant to open, and the first one on the West Coast. Last night’s event was a part of a three-night affair: Wednesday night’s “An Evening in Italy” featured a FENDI fashion show and Lamborghini cars and Friday night’s “An Evening in France” will include a Chloé fashion show and a hosted red carpet.

Fig & Olive is located at 8490 Melrose Place, West Hollywood, 310.360.9100; www.figandolive.com.
