Haute Fashion: The Top Baby Boutiques in Orange County Want Little Ones All Wrapped Up in aden + anais

What do Jessica Alba, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Garner and Matthew McConaughey all have in common (besides being talented and gorgeous)?  They’ve all been photographed swaddling their bundles of joy in the hautest baby wrap designed by Raegan Moya-Jones for aden + anais.

What’s so special about these cloth wraps that has every celeb and new mommy buying them in heaps? In a word: muslin.

When Raegan Moya-Jones moved from her native Australia to the U.S. and started a family, she brought with her many traditions of motherhood.  Passed down from mother to daughter for generations, these traditions bound the women in her family and her culture together. For as long as her mother or her grandmother could remember, mothers in Australia swaddled their babies. And they did it in pure cotton muslin.

When Raegan started her own family, she knew that swaddling in muslin would be a part of her traditions as a mother. But when she tried to find a swaddle like the ones she remembered she was unable to locate any.  Most wraps available were too heavy or unattractive.  So, she decided to design her own line to fit her specifications and started aden + anais.

Raegan designed a swaddle large enough to be truly useful to mothers – and not just for swaddling, but as a stroller cover, nursing shield, tummy time blanket, or a burping cloth.  She found the softest, gentlest muslin and her empire was born. Next, she started creating colorful, modern prints that would transform this simple tool of motherhood into something stylish and fun for both baby and mom.

With 2011 being dubbed The Year of the Baby, we’re sure to see thousands of wee ones all swaddled up and ready for dreamland.

Nightie night.
