Dubai is not short of high-end Japanese watering holes, so what does an establishment have to do to entice the cool crowd? Okku in the Monarch hotel has come up with a formula in collaboration with Grey Goose Vodka designed to attract those in need of a new and sophisticated experience.
Held every Tuesday evening, O’ Socialista is for the ladies in Dubai who covet a refined and relaxed experience. Okku has been a fixture on the Dubai scene since opening in 2009 and has turned it’s attentions to the female demographic to get a piece of the famous “Ladies’ Night” pie. Women have the privilege of complimentary drinks in most bars and clubs on a Tuesday evening so Okku has gone even further proposing a different experience; like minded and stylish individuals can socialize over complimentary Grey Goose cocktails and talk shop… literally.
Each week the focus is on a different fashion trend, artist or lifestyle inclination. The select VIP crowds are treated to upcoming regional fashion and art talent as well as some of the hottest global luxury brands allowing a sneak peek at upcoming products prior to hitting the stores. Past evenings have had themes such as Vintage Fashion, the ‘Celebration of Bond Girls’ and Madonna (though I cannot confirm whether the Material Girl was in attendance!).
Each week Socialista has been gaining momentum as the word spreads about this Ladies Night with a twist. Last night’s focus? A style transformation courtesy of Sephora. Beauty bars and hair stations were packed with beauty addicts getting insider tips on the hottest make up trends and hairstyles as well as complimentary goodies to take home. A resident spa therapist from Shiffa, was also on hand–Dubai’s best kept beauty secret (more about that later). The lovely ladies from Sept PR were able to maintain order effortlessly in light of the slight beauty hysteria in the air. Women + Make-up stations = Big success.
The O’Socialista formula looks to be on track to be the essential Tuesday night fixture for women and men who value style as well as a killer cocktail.
