In the Mix

A friend, a date or a business associate stops by your place prior to an evening out.  The natural thing to do is offer them a cocktail before hitting the town. You’ve got the bar set up, the crystal decanter shining, your supplies in order.  Just one problem – you have no idea how to mix a fine cocktail. Anything more complicated than scotch on the rocks simply stumps you. Wouldn’t it be nice to wow your guest with your mixology skills as seemingly effortlessly as you already have with your interior decorating skills (or your skills to pick an interior decorator – they don’t have to know)? Well, here’s your chance to learn from the best.

Some of the city’s top mixologists are offering up the chance to get some hands on – and lips on – learning from them via cocktail classes at the Boston Center for Adult Education this March and April. Imagine mixing with the finesse of L’Espalier, the delicate nuances of The Blue Room or the penchant for good taste of Market. Simply pick your favorite bar stop, grab your supplies and try your hand at some of the tastiest libations in greater Boston.

Classes start March 7th with Juicy Fruit drinks taught by Kate Moore of L’Espalier. Next up, Emerald Isle drink with Brendan Mercure from No. 9 Park on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th. Other classes include the classic martini from Market, sake creations from Myers + Chang, exotic libations for The Ki Bar and sparkling concoctions from The Blue Room.

Be sure to bring your thirst with you to the class as any good mixologist knows – you need to sample your creations to ensure their perfection.
