Perfume-lovers rejoice!
Anyone who’s leisurely strolled down West Third Street in L.A. has already discovered the chic boutique Le Labo and no doubt was coerced by olfactory overload and purchased countless vials for themselves. (Lord knows we have). And, who can help it?
Each of the Le Labo fragrances is built around a primary natural essence that comes directly from Grasse, France’s “Perfume Capital.” There are ten core scents: Bergamot, Rose, Vetiver, Neroli, Orange blossom, Patchouli, Iris, Ambrette, Jasmine and Labdanum, each of these essences form the base of a composition. The names of the perfumes provide a valuable clue on how they are formulated. For example: FLEUR d’ORANGER 27 indicates that the perfume is made up of a total of 27 ingredients, with the natural orange blossom from Grasse as its principal essence. (It reminds us of spring in So Cal when the Orange blossoms are in bloom for a few short weeks and the air smells sweet).
Le Labo’s fragrances are classified in the following categories: 3 masculine, 3 unisex, 3 feminine, 1 baby perfume, and each of the four boutiques carries exclusive scents (i.e. MUSC 25 is the L.A. gem and favored by celebs).
And now, Le Labo’s manager tells us that due to the popularity of their candle SANTAL 26, the lab techs who concocted this scrumptious scent have now created a new fragrance in its honor, SANTAL 33, set to entice by May 2011.
We can’t resist the high-quality raw ingredients mixed right before our eyes by a technician who lovingly prints our name and expiration date directly on the label. It’s like having a personalized prescription to intoxicate.
Le Labo is located at 8385 West Third Street, (between South Kings Road and South Orlando Ave.), Los Angeles |323.782.0411
