HL: Your real estate market covers Hoboken and Jersey City; have you always been a Jersey girl?
KE: I was raised in Long Valley, but I’ve also lived in Philadelphia and Los Angeles, CA, before moving to Hoboken.
HL: Have you always been interested in real estate?
KE: I studied Photography and Business Marketing at Drexel University before building a career in advertising, marketing, and photography. While working with publications such as Architectural Digest and Metropolitan Home / Elle Décor, I quickly developed an appreciation for and understanding of interior design and architecture, this soon developed into an interest in Real Estate development and sales.
HL: How has this unique background allowed you to excel in the industry?
KE: Real Estate is about relationships. And that’s what I’ve always effortlessly excelled at, developing and maintaining great relationships. Beyond that, my experience in visual arts, social media and business marketing have allowed me to set myself apart and approach an age old industry with a fresh new perspective.
HL: As a real estate matchmaker, your house matching process must be much more personalized than others.
KE: Each of my buyers start with a private consultation in their current home, at my office, by phone, or by completing a questionnaire on my website. This allows me to get to know the buyer, their lifestyle, tastes, and needs, so that I can truly find a home they will love.
HL: So it’s more of a mutual matching rather than a buyer’s hunt?
KE: I’ve found that this unique process most often saves time and eliminates the stress and frustration of house-hunting, but if you’re a more hands-on type, you can send me some listings you would like to see and I can give you more insight on the properties you find in your search.
HL: What has allowed you to couple people with their desired homes so successfully?
KE: Once I discover what type of property my client is looking to buy or rent, I then turn to my extensive knowledge of almost every property in town. I have built trusted relationships with homeowners, landlords and managed properties alike, allowing me to find the best home and price to fit a client’s lifestyle and needs.
HL: What makes the Hoboken/Jersey City market have such appeal?
KE: Hoboken and Jersey City attract young professionals working in Manhattan and new families who prefer to live in a small community but still within a short commute to work and entertainment. With Newark International airport less than 30 minutes away, it’s also a great location for jet setters traveling often for business or pleasure.
HL: What is it about the area that is attractive to those seeking a luxury lifestyle?
KE: With it’s proximity to big cities, small towns, open space, mountains, marinas, beaches and international airports, this area is popular among well recognized professional athletes, political figures and TV stars, including current Hoboken residents; New York Giants Quarterback, Eli Manning, former NJ Governor, Jon Corzine, Natalie Morales, of the Today Show and most recently Buddy of TLC’s “The Cake Boss.”
HL: Is there good reason why someone should rent as opposed to buy?
KE: Renting may be a good option when relocating to a new area that you’re unfamiliar with. Sign a short-term lease while you look for your perfect home. If you work with me, I actually offer to refund the cost of your rental when you buy. If you don’t have the savings for a down payment yet, and renting an apartment under your monthly budget will allow you to save for an eventual down payment then renting is the way to go.
