We may not get too much snow around these parts, but that doesn’t stop us Dallasites from enjoying our brief winter months. If the weather outside is not-so-frightful, try one of these great spots to get in the snow globe mood.

Ice Skating at The Galleria
If all that post-holiday shopping has you bah-humbugging the entire winter season, head downstairs at the Galleria mall to the indoor ice skating rink. It's a great place for a family day or a romantic first date. Afterward, go on up to Corner Bakery for some hot cocoa-- and to discuss your awesome triple axel.

Moonlight Breakfast at Avanti Ristorante
After a long night of sledding, making snowmen or enjoying too much eggnog, Avanti Ristorante is there for your early morning hunger. Weekends until 3:30 a.m., enjoy Avanti's intimate bistro setting, sip an espresso and munch of Italian crab claws, eggs benedict and decadent creme brulee. It's also a perfect end to an evening at the symphony or opera.

Dallas Stars Game
If we can't get ice out there, we settle for the ice in the American Airlines Center, where the Dallas Stars skate and score. Put your thermal on under your favorite player's jersey and get to a game to support our team. It's been a great season, and we have high hopes for the playoffs!

Winter at the Arboretum
Just because it's winter doesn't mean you won't see color at the Dallas Arboretum. Bundle up and take a stroll through the 66 acres of tangled paths and gardens, and then walk over to the DeGoyler Mansion for an afternoon tea and sandwich, reopening Monday, January 24.

The Indoor Pool at the Gaylord Hotel
If the cool winter air is stopping you from doing your morning laps, The Gaylord Texan has you covered. Located in the outskirts of town, it's the perfect place for a weekend getaway should we get some snow in the coming months. Enjoy the spacious 20-meter heated pool while watching the flakes fall softly to the ground outside, and pretend you're in the mountains in Colorado.
