Is there anything more decadent, more comforting, and more delicious than chocolate? If so, we aren’t aware of it. Chocolate is something that symbolizes love, privilege, sweetness, and is often a gift to someone you care for, which is no surprise that as Valentine’s Day is approaching, we’re talking chocolate. So while chocolate, in general, is perfection, not all chocolate is created equal. Some say the Belgians do it best, some say the lighter and milkier the better, some say dark is the only way to go, so what makes a great piece of chocolate? Let’s see who’s doing it best in San Diego!
1 Dallmann Chocolatier
The Dallmann family has taken chocolate seriously for a very long time. In 1954, Guenther Dallmann opened a shop in Austria, concocting fresh chocolate goodies daily, and that tradition has carried over to his grand-daughter, Sophie, who has opened this amazing shop here in the San Diego area. Dallmann Confections specializes in all things Belgian chocolate, and the results are honestly incredible. Try the Passion Fruit Caramel Dark Chocolate, or gorge yourself on the divine Bourbon Vanilla White Chocolate. Offering candy classes and all kinds of goodies, you'll never want to leave this place!

This is the place to find chocolate flavorings and combinations you simply won't find anywhere else, unless you hop a plane to Venezuela. A popular piece is the Firecracker, a piece that combines a chipotle and caramel fudge truffle with popping candy buried in the rich dark chocolate. It's absolutely life-changing, as chocolate goes. Stop in to either location and see the magic for yourself.
