Miller Lite with the MLK Holiday March Committee Present “Greatness: A Celebration in Black”

With the holiday fast approaching, come out and celebrate the legacy of Civil Rights pioneer and revolutionary, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the national MLK holiday and the number of events and celebrations to commemorate such a landmark year are plentiful. The Georgia Association of Black Elected Officials (GABEO), the MLK March Committee and MillerCoors proudly present Greatness: a Celebration in Black on Monday January 17 at Entice-A Restaurant beginning at 6 p.m. following the annual march and rally. It will be an evening of reflection and celebration honoring the legacy of Dr. King and the pioneers of the Civil Rights Movement.

Guests will get an up close and personal view of the realism and struggle that propelled the Civil Rights Movement during the 1960s. Honorees for the evening include: Dr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Lowery, Ambassador Andrew Young, Congressman John Lewis, C.T. Vivian, Reverend Jesse Jackson, Mrs. Xernona Clayton and Mrs. Juanita Abernathy. This will be followed by a presentation of the Greatness award given to the King family by James Tolliver (General Manager, MillerCoors) and Tyrone Brooks (President, GABEO) with a special gifting presentation from the Alvin Ailey 50 initiative. A collection of Georgia’s highest-ranking and most notable politicians, including Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, are members of the evenings’ host committee.

To further commemorate such a momentous occasion, there will be an unveiling of the MLK March Committee Commemorative March Coat, honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and displaying fine detail, recognition of the efforts of Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute and a charge to all citizens to keep Dr. King’s dream alive. The executive chef at Entice-A Restaurant, Michelle Rouse will prepare a collection of themed dishes with spirits provided courtesy of Gentleman Jack and Miller Lite. This is an event that is not only one of the most prestigious MLK-related events in Atlanta, but it is also a great chance to recognize a man who braved incredible feats and did so much for so many. Happy Birthday Dr. King!
