Another fancy hotel opens up in Dubai this month. This one, the eagerly anticipated Ritz Carlton at the  Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC), officially opened its doors last week. After years of preparation and eager eyes from the city’s luxury segment, the 341-room hotel with 124 executive residences became the sixth property in the Middle East for the global luxury hotel group.

Lothar Quarz, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, DIFC  gathered with other hotel owners and
senior leaders from The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. for a private official ribbon cutting
ceremony.  “The company philosophy is to design hotels that are casually elegant, with the
occasional classical influence as appropriate. This hotel is a stunning example of that strategic
direction.” Humler added “Being able to expand our presence in Dubai and be part of a region
of substantial growth is a tremendous opportunity. Of course, we were quick to welcome the
chance to provide an outstanding meeting venue for the international companies that already
have a presence in this complex,” said Herve Humler, president and chief operating officer for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in a recent press release.

The Ritz Carlton DIFC will be the only hotel physically linked to the complex of buildings in Dubai International Financial Center. No. 5, the hotel’s bar will serve as the hotel’s social point and will feature a dramatic 30 meter (100 feet) wine wall boasting of 3,000 of the finest labels in the world. Other dining features include Blue Rain, a signature fine dining Thai restaurant; Can Can, an all-day French brasserie; and Center Cut Steakhouse.

Another brilliant and unique design feature of the hotel is a 10-story outdoor cascading waterfall elegantly complimenting the sleek decor of the DIFC. According to Feng Shui, the constant flow of water signifies perpetual wealth and prosperity, a relevant symbolic design touch for the heart of Dubai’s commercial life.
