Haute Event: Official UFC After-Party at XS Plus the World’s Largest Bottle of Champagne

UFC fighter Cain Velasquez at XS

XS Nightclub at Encore Las Vegas launched into the new year with a bang last night with a tremendous New Year’s Day party. As the official location for UFC After Parties this year, UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez played host after last night’s fights and was joined by fellow fighters Gilbert Melendez, Urijah Faber, Jake Shields and UFC announcer Bruce Buffer.

Also in the crowd were well-known UFC supporters Criss Angel and Carrot Top, who posted comedic photos with Velasquez to their personal Twitter accounts throughout the evening.

Playing master of ceremonies, the Manufactured Superstars debuted their exclusive residency last night as well with a little help from a famous friend. After dining at Lakeside Grill at Wynn Las Vegas with some of the most influential names in electronic music, including Kaskade and the founders of Electric Daisy festival, Afrojack accompanied his friends Brad Roulier and Shawn Sabo (the members of Manufactured Superstars) to XS to check out his new home for an exclusive residency in 2011 as well. Afrojack joined the Superstars in the booth and posted to Twitter later that the creators of Beatport.com killed it at XS. It will be his turn in the deejay booth on Monday, starting a year of performances at the Las Vegas hot spot.

But perhaps the biggest star of the night was the world’s largest bottle of Champagne, a 30-liter vessel of Armand de Brignac that sold for a whopping $100,000 to one high rolling guest. UFC announcer Bruce Buffer took to the mic and interrupted the dance party to announce the purchase to the club, which erupted in excitement. The XS team delivered the 80-plus bottle to the table while on-lookers stared and snapped photos in amazement. The bottle arrived at XS on New Year’s Eve and the team put a challenge up to its guests, saying the buyer would get to perform the countdown to midnight, but the bottle sold in celebration of the new year, kicking the nightclub off to an excessive start in 2011 indeed.
