Last night, Grammy Award-winning singer Estelle celebrated her New Year’s Eve as the master of ceremonies, handling the official countdown to midnight at Tryst Nightclub at Wynn Las Vegas. The songstress showed up in a black mini-dress with gold accents and long, auburn hair — a change from her signature usual bob hairstyle.
After walking the red carpet, Estelle rushed to the stage to announce the guests into 2011 then quickly broke into her latest single “Freak” that got the packed dance floor grooving into the new year on the right foot! Her next song was the one that made her famous, “American Boy,” a collaboration originally done with Kanye West. The crowd erupted in applause and praise for the song, the front few rows reaching out to be closer to her. Estelle pulled a lucky American boy up from the crowd to serenade him, but the young suitor shocked her by dancing with her while singing every word right back.
The starlet closed her performance with “One Love” — her collaboration with David Guetta that has taken over the dance floors of nightclubs across the country. She got emotional toward the end of the song when singing the lyrics, “We’re survivors; we’re making it work, expecting the best when they hope for the worst,” but closed the song showcasing her powerful vocals and strength. With the Tryst waterfall cascading behind her, it was truly a magical way for the crowd to kick of 2011.
Following the performance, Estelle celebrated into the early hours of the morning with close friends including Julissa Bermudez, the MTV host most famous for hosting the station’s reality show reunion episodes.
