Haute Event: Comedian Rita Rudner Opens Her Show at the Venetian

You could definitely call this a comedic show for the ladies. Rita Rudner celebrated the opening of her residency in the Venetian Showroom with a pre-show reception at i♥burgers in the Shoppes at the Palazzo last night. Dressed in one of her signature floor-length gowns, Rudner graced the red carpet before heading into the party to mingle with guests.

Mixologist Myke Ramos crafted specialty cocktails for the event, including the signature Marg-A-Rita in honor of Rudner. Guests also enjoyed varieties of sliders, bruschetta, meatballs and fries from Executive Chef Errol Leblanc.

Rudner’s husband Martin Bergman and daughter Molly accompanied her for the special occasion. Rudner and her daughter sipped on the Miss American Pie vanilla shake.

After the party, guests made their way to the Venetian Showroom where Rudner performed for the packed theater and entertained the audience with her trademark soft-spoken humor, clever observations and sharp timing. Shopping, the differences between men and women and what it’s really like to live in Las Vegas all make their way into Rudner’s dialog.

Rudner wrote the best-selling “I Still Have It…I Just Can’t Remember Where I Put It: Confessions of a Fiftysomething,” “Naked Beneath My Clothes” and the novels “Tickled Pink” and “Turning The Tables.” She’s also starred in seven HBO comedy specials, her own PBS special and has written several movie scripts. She has been performing in Vegas for more than 10 years.

While her residency in the 742-seat Venetian Showroom started on Saturday, Jan. 15, last night marked the official opening of the show. Show times are at 8:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and 6 p.m. on Saturdays.

Ticket prices start at $49 and $69. VIP tickets include a pre-show photo and an exclusive Rita Rudner ring.
