Haute 100 Miami Update: Malcolm Glazer

Our Haute 100 list details the accomplishments of the most influential people in each of our markets—Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. These people continue to make moves, so rather than waiting for the next Haute 100 issue to come out, we thought we’d provide you with regular updates on those Haute 100 members who are making headlines. Malcolm Glazer recently procured a nice piece of real estate in Chicago for his son, breaking the city’s top real estate deal for the year.

Malcolm Glazer

Category: Billionaires

Company: First Allied Corp.

Industry: Real Estate

What Made Him Haute: This tycoon inherited his father’s jewelry business at age 15 and later became the president of the property firm First Allied Corporation, which owns shopping centers in 15 states. Now he owns both the professional soccer team Manchester United and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

What Makes Him Haute Now: When you can purchase an $8.6 million luxury apartment for your son you know that business is good. The rumors that Manchester United was going to be sold by the Glazer family because of financial hardship are not true. Malcolm Glazer’s son Bryan Glazer is now living in a nice 6,432-square-foot, 53rd floor apartment in the fashionable Elysian Tower designed by Lucien Lagrange. This is just the latest splurge on a long list for the Glazer family in 2010.
