Our Haute 100 list details the accomplishments of the most influential people in each of our markets—Miami, New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. These people continue to make moves, so rather than waiting for the next Haute 100 issue to come out, we thought we’d provide you with regular updates on those Haute 100 members who are making headlines. Making headlines with a record number of All Star votes, our focus is on basketball star Kobe Bryant.
Name: Kobe Bryant
What Made Him Haute: This shooting guard for the LA Lakers is the all-time leading scorer in the teams franchise history. Since his career began, Bryant has started in every NBA All-Star Game and won the All-Star MVP award three times. At the 2008 Olympics, Bryant won the gold medal as part of the USA national team.
What Makes Him Haute Now: Both Sporting News and TNT named Kobe Bryant the NBA player of the 2000 decade. In the ninth game of the 2010-2011 season, Bryant became the youngest player in NBA history to reach 26,000 career points. Continuing to break records, Bryant is the first player to break the 1 million vote barrier with 1,153,694 votes in All Star voting.
