East Meets West: West Hollywood Eateries Migrate to the Westside

Lemonade's new storefront in Brentwood

A few years ago when I became a Westsider I felt some disappointment, leaving my two dear friends, Sweet Lady Jane and Lemonade, behind. Then, poof, out of nowhere I found out Jane was coming to Santa Monica to spread her overindulgent wings with a dessert shop (just like the original) on Montana Avenue.

Just in time for Thanksgiving, the cake and pie haven opened its doors and granted me and many others with the joy of being able to make a late-night trip in about five minutes flat for a slice of Blackout Espresso Fudge cake, Chocolate Pecan Pie, or Triple Berry Shortcake.

However, a piece of me was still missing. But now there’s hope as one of my favorite gourmet snack shops, Lemonade, is opening in Brentwood this summer, situating itself in the former Claypit space on Barrington Boulevard. Lemonade will be dishing up its cafeteria-style fare and farm stand worthy beverages for lunch and dinner daily. Rest assured, chef/owner Alan Jackson’s signature offerings, including his watermelon radish-Ahi tuna salad, truffled Israeli Couscous, and array of pot roast sandwiches will still be on the menu. Or if you have the time, prep yourself at one of the other locations:

West Hollywood: 9001 Beverly Blvd. (at Almont)
Downtown: 515 South Flower St.
at MOCA: 250 South Grand Ave.
Venice: 1661 Abbot Kinney (at Venice)
