Dungeness Crab Arrives at Tommy Bahama’s Island Grille

When the New Years celebrations are in the rear view and the air starts to chill, you know it’s time for dungeness crab — and so does Chef Jacqueline Nabong at Tommy Bahama’s Island Grille. She’s developed three great new dishes for the menu that take advantage of the season’s bountiful and succulent crab.

While Chef Nabong will be adding and taking items from the menu daily, there are a few highlights that’ll stay throughout the season. Dungeness crab is known for being meaty, substantial and delicious, so there’s no surprise that it will be the star player on the menu. New items include a dungeness crab “martini,” featuring lump crab meat marinated in ginger and mirin served on avocado and a BLT slider, which pairs the crab meat with Nueske’s premium bacon on a La Brea Bakery bun. Also available are the dungeness crab tacos, served with chipotle aioli, watercress and mango salsa.

And lastly, Tommy Bahama’s Island Grille will be serving a petite filet Oscar, a char-grilled beef tenderloin topped with lump crab and asparagus drizzled with a rich hollandaise. Get it while you can — the menu’s slated to last through Valentine’s Day.

Tommy Bahama’s Island Grille is located at 854 Avocado Ave., at Corona del Mar Plaza in Newport Beach. For more information or to make a reservation, call 949.760.8686. For more information on Tommy Bahama and its restaurant concept, visit www.tommybahama.com.
