Brian Malarkey became a common name when he made it to the finals of Bravo's Top Chef, and he's making a name for himself here in San Diego with the 2010 opening of his restaurant, Searsucker. Searsucker is a joint venture with James Brennan, the man behind San Diego's favorite night spot, Stingaree. Searsucker brings Brians talents to it's 8,000 square-foot Gaslamp venue where he brings his personal tastes in good, real food with good alcohol and a laid-back, California vibe. Featuring some amazing seafood dishes and a lot of homemade sauces that bring comfort to dining out, Searsucker lives up to it's celebrity chef name in providing really fantastic dishes.

2 Chef William Bradley- Addison

Chef William Bradley is a celebrity in San Diego, and among culinary devotees as the man behind the only Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five Diamond restaurant in all of Southern California. Addison, at the Grand Del Mar, is toted as one of the best restaurants in the country, and this is due in large part to the amazing talents of William Bradley. Treating food like a fine art, this man creates an ambience and menu that has the finest line of decadence and elegance, mingled together with an underlying tradiltional feeling to every bite. 3 Chef Rich Sweeney- R Gang

Bravo's Top Chef turns out a lot of celebrities, and R Gang is the newest creation from celebrity chef Rich Sweeney. Sweeney recently made the change from his former restaurant in San Diego, Confidential Restaurant + Loft, to his brand-new venue in Hillcrest, R Gang. R Gang is a little more retro, a little more stylish, and a lot of fun! The food and staff are all comfort-based and kind of hipster in a not-so-obvious way, and the entire vibe is enjoyable. San Diego loves having celebrity chefs, and Chef Sweeney's R Gang is no exception, it's a great venue showcasing his great talent.

4 Chef Chris Idso- Pacifica Del Mar

In San Diego cooking circles, Chef Chris Idso is a name many know and with good reason. Working his way up from under mentor Dave Abella, Idso has made a strong reputation for himself as the head chef and partner in the opening of Pacifica Del Mar, and the food there is all the credential you need! Specializing in Pacific fusion cuisine, Idso is making waves with his amazing menu and variety of over 75 vodkas to accompany his dishes. As the former chef at Roy's, this gentleman has really stepped into the San Diego culinary spotlight recently, and we support that move completely as a night at Pacifica is a night to remember!

5 Chef Deborah Scott- Indigo Grill

It's about time a lady made this list! While Deborah's in a male-dominated field, she's certainly not being dominated in skill or talent! The Indigo Grill's head chef, and very respected name in San Diego cuisine, Deborah Scott is definitely on our list of big-name chefs in San Diego. Describing herself as someone who thrives on chaos, she's certainly in the right industry! Her restaurant in Little Italy is a fantastic spot to enjoy a meal, and the food is as incredible as it should be, with all the hype behind it's well-known chef. Combining ingredients and styles from many cultures, and always experimenting with new tastes and dishes makes Chef Deborah Scott a force to be reckoned with in the kitchen!
