Baseball in Winter… Hot Stove Cool Music

Even though we are pretty fortunate here in Boston to have three power house teams in the Patriots. Celtics and Bruins to carry us through the winter months, this is still baseball country and we miss our beloved Red Sox when the flakes are falling.  We are also music hounds.  So think how delightful it would be to get a dose of our baseball favorites, mixed in with our favorite music artists in the midst of the winter doldrums all to benefit a worthy cause. The folks at Hot Stove Cool Music have cooked up this ingenious brainchild and for the 11th year are bringing you the athletes and music to brighten up the winter months, all to benefit A Foundation To Be Named Later, a branch of the Red Sox Foundation working with local non-profits to serve disadvantaged children and their families.

This year’s winter event takes place at the newly refurbished Paradise Rock Club on Saturday, January 15th. The lineup for the night includes The Lemonheads, Buffalo Tom, The Candles, Bronson Arroyo with American Hi Fi, Peter Gammons, Theo Epstein and the Hot Stove All Stars: Kay Hanley, Jenny Dee & The Deliquents, and more. Special Guest MC will be actor Mike O’Malley, who plays Kurt’s dad on Fox’s hit show Glee.

For more of your MLB fix, join the roundtable discussion the day before on January 14th at Fenway Park featuring Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein, General Manager Brian Sabean of the San Francisco Giants, John Farrell of the Toronto Blue Jays, former Red Sox pitchers Curt Schilling and Bronson Arroyo, and hosted by Peter Gammon of NESN. The topic on the table? “ The physical, psychological and conditioning aspects of developing pitching.”

Last year’s concert raised $275,000. Beneficiaries for both events this year include Roxbury Youthworks, West End House Boys and Girls Club, BELL, City Year, Citizen Schools, Room To Grow, Steps To Success, The Home for Little Wanderers, Horizons for Homeless Children, and Molo Care.

Tickets for the roundtable discussion are $100 and include food and beverage. Tickets for the concert are $40. Get your tickets here.
