XVA Gallery to Open in DIFC, Dubai

Dubai’s XVA Gallery has recently announced plans to open a new gallery in the vibrant arts community of the prestigious DIFC Gate Village. Currently located in the heart of the historic Al Bastakiya area, XVA serves as a creative space which houses an art hotel, cafe, boutique, dhow and gallery for rotating exhibitions making it one of the most original art centers in the region.

Due to open in early 2011, the new DIFC gallery will feature a space of 2,500 square feet providing XVA with an additional platform from which to exhibit contemporary Middle Eastern art.

“From the beginning, my philosophy with XVA was to sculpt a venue for artistic and creative inquiry that is both welcoming and distinctly unique.  Our goal is to enhance the existing community of culture in the region by transferring our successful model in Bastakiya to our new location in DIFC,” said Mona Hauser in a recent press release.

The Al Bastikaya art gallery will continue its current function. Visiting artists will still be invited to create installations for the space such as those currently on view by Iraqi artists Walid Siti and Halim Al Karim. Both artists are represented by XVA and will be exhibited in the Iraqi Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale this summer.

XVA features an exciting roster of eight exhibition cycles per year as well as art consultancy and cultural management services.  We’re excited about this new addition to Gate Village’s lively hub of art galleries.
