The much ballyhooed Marquee Nightclub at the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas plans to swing open its doors just in time for New Year’s Eve. The club clocks in at 60,000 square feet, making it the largest nightclub in Las Vegas. David Rockwell, the acclaimed designer, created the seven bars in three rooms with different musical experiences throughout.
First, you need to know the club is the brainchild of Louis Abin, Jason Strauss, Marc Packer, Rich Wolf and Noah Tepperberg who brought Tao at the Venetian and Lavo at the Palazzo to Vegas.
Then you need to start marking your calendars for Dec. 30 when British sensation Florence and the Machine will kick off the pre-grand opening with an invitation-only event, followed by a set from Tao/Lavo resident DJ Vice. Acclaimed global superstar DJ Erick Morillo will begin his residency with the club’s grand opening on New Year’s Eve, and, closing out the weekend’s all-star line-up will be American sensation Kaskade headlining the party on New Year’s Day.
The big draw of the club is the Main Room bedecked with a 40-foot LED deejay booth and projection stage surrounded by plush coliseum-style banquette seating and two dance floors.
Above and overlooking the Main Room is the more intimate Library with a fireplace, billiard table and vintage books showcasing Las Vegas’ rich history. The cocktail menu here emphasizes specialty cocktails with a modern twist.
Downstairs, you can find the Boom Box Room, an intimate boite with Strip views and a separate deejay with a state-of- the-art sound system.
When warm weather rolls around, look for the Dayclub portion of the venue with eight cabanas with individual infinity pools and 10 three-story bungalow lofts complete with living quarters and an open air party-deck. The adults-only outdoor facility will also feature sun beds, a gaming area, two pools, daytime food menu from executive chef Ralph Scamardella and more deejay talent.
Marquee will be open five nights a week Thursday through Tuesday starting at 10 p.m. For more information or reservations, call 702.333.9000 or visit www.marqueelasvegas.com.
