I’m not sure why drinking tea is often associated with old English women. I for one love drinking tea — all kinds! Of course, you can pick up a box of tea at your local grocery store, but there’s nothing more soothing than sipping a steaming hot cup of tea in a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by friends. I’ve done a little research and have found the top five places to “take tea” in South Florida.

1 Tealicious

From moment you walk inside Tealicious Tea room, you’ll feel like you’re at an authentic tea party. The place is filled with fresh flowers and flora china, glass chandeliers and shabby-chic furniture. They serve a variety of teas from all around the world and even sell specialty gift baskets that are available for purchase in store or on their website. The room is also a great place to host a special event.

2 Lea’s Tea Room

Located on the second floor of the peaceful and elegant Bal Harbour shops is Lea’s, a quaint little bistro and tea room. You can enjoy their European-style café fare and specialty teas at tables both indoors and outdoors.

3 The Biltmore Hotel

The historic Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables is famous for their traditional English teatime. Relax in the palatial lobby fireplace aside the fireplace and enjoy a soothing cup of tea. Afternoon Tea is served every weekday from 3 to 6 p.m. Reservations are required.

4 The Villa by Barton G

The Villa By Barton G, the luxury boutique hotel that was once known as the Versace Mansion, is truly one of the more lavish hideaways in all of Miami. They’ve recently introduced the “Villa Tea,” where guests can lounge in their magnificent Mosaic Garden and enjoy select teas, sandwiches and pastries. Reservations are recommended, as seating is limited. Tea is served Thursday through Sunday from 2:30 to 4 p.m.

5 The Breakers, Palm Beach

Every day from 3 to 5 p.m., The Breakers hotel in Palm Beach serves their signature Afternoon Tea at their Tapestry Bar. Enjoy a variety of teas, tea sandwiches, scones, pastries and chocolates. Book in advance, as reservations fill up quickly.
