December 3rd marked the celebration of the 22nd anniversary of the major fund-raising event for Saint Francis Memorial Hospital: Holiday Hob Nob on the Hill. Conceived and chaired by the late Bella Farrow, the event also celebrated the monumental philanthropic efforts of the Nob Hill Fund-raising Diva by tying in a memorial tribute by former San Francisco mayor Willie Brown and Hob Nob Co-Chair Elizabeth Thieriot.
The event was held in the spectacular Venetian and Gold Ballrooms of the historic Fairmont Hotel, where more than 400 loyal guests showed up to lavish in the exquisite cuisine selection of the “progressive dinner.” Susan Gearey, this year’s Hob Nob co-chair, then delivered a speech applauding the efforts of the charity and the community and accepted a gift of $300,000, presented this year by The Bothin Foundation to support Saint Francis Memorial Hospital’s Burn Center’s expansion.
The Bothin Burn Center is a 10-bed intensive care unit that provides advanced treatment for children and adults in the Western United States that are suffering from serious burns. Established in 1967, the Burn Center is currently undergoing expansions and upgrades that will increase the center’s capacity to provide care to an additional 90 inpatients and 900 outpatients per year.
