Haute Event: Dinner at Soho House with Margrit Mondavi

Last night, I attended an intimate dinner at the Soho Beach House hosted by Margrit Mondavi of Robert Mondavi Winery. The three-course meal was a delicious array of seafood, meats, salads, pasta and dessert. (My favorites were the crab cakes, the plin agnolotti pasta, and the key lime pie!) Before each course, Mondavi stood up in front of the group to explain the specific wine (brought in directly from the winery) that was being served the flavors, and the reason behind the pairing.

Mondavi and company have traveled all the way down from their Napa winery to Miami for Art Basel, specifically for the exclusive Arts of Seduction gala benefit that will take place tonight at The Wolfsonian-FIU. The museum is bringing together the cuisine of renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten and the rare wines of Robert Mondavi Winery to celebrate the museum’s new art installation by legendary Isabella Rossellini, entitled “Seduce Me.”

Mondavi is a woman of life and joy and she is truly a pioneer in the wine industry. She joined Robert Mondavi Winery just a year after it was founded in 1967 and has remained a crucial figure in its growth and prosperity ever since. She continues to uphold her late husband’s philosophy that food, wine and the arts are an integral part of gracious living.
