Industry: Film

What Made Him Haute: While he’s best known for appearing on the silver screen, Clint Eastwood also owns the extremely private, invitation-only Tehama Golf Club in Carmel-by-the-Sea and is an investor in the Pebble Beach Golf Links.

What Makes Him Haute Now: Hoping to help director David Lynch and his project Operation Warrior Wellness, Clint Eastwood has signed on as a quasi spokesperson.

Operation Warrior Wellness works to help former soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and other psychologically stressing disabilities by teaching them the practice of transcendental meditation. Lynch, who previously used the program to aid children with behavioral problems, has enlisted the help of the macho Eastwood for this new endeavor, which might require convincing some veterans that meditation does not compromise their masculinity.

The first meeting was held yesterday night at the Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace. There it launched the campaign to train 10,000 veterans in the technique. When Eastwood showed up he revealed he had been using meditation for almost 40 years, adding also, what a great tool the practice was for stress…”especially considering the stress our men and women of the Armed Forces are going through.”
