What Made Them Haute: Before deciding to follow his true passion for cooking and entertaining, Miky Grendene was a real estate broker and financier. When his entertaining became a frequent pastime, the Grendene family suggested that he take it up a notch. Miky and his wife Leticia, who he met while cruising on South Beach and was stunned by her beauty, are the owners of Casa Tua, a very exclusive boutique hotel and restaurant in Miami. This luxurious Mediterranean-inspired enclave has a restaurant that is open to the public as well as a private club for members only if you want to be part of an elite crowd. Casa Tua which means “my house, your house” in Italian is a favorite among the privileged.
What Makes Them Haute Now: Today, the Grendenes are adding a second location to Casa Tua taking their endeavors to Aspen. It is said to officially open its door by the end of the year at the former spot of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse in Aspen. It will have a similar setup as the site in Miami; the street-level restaurant will be open to the public, and an upstairs private club which will be restricted to members only. It will cost members $3,500 for the first year and $3,000 every year after that for an annual membership, and lifetime memberships for $25,000. The food served is described as simple yet sophisticated, and will be prepared by three of Casa Tua’s Miami chefs, who will be relocating to Aspen. The menu will serve a variety of dishes that will suit an array of palates.
