Could you eat what you can’t see? That’s the concept behind one of the most innovative and talked about culinary events in Atlanta. Dining in the Dark is a culinary dining experience that takes places once a month through June 2011. This month, the featured chef is Gerry Klaskala of local restaurant hotspot Aria. On Thursday December 9, guests will deliciously enjoy a four-course meal while completely in the dark. I don’t know about you, but this seems like a very welcome (and tasty) Christmas surprise; being in a room with people and food you can’t see speaks to an enormous amount of adventure. Sign me up!
Dining in the Dark is a culinary experience that is the first of its kind in the city of Atlanta. Top chefs from some of the most popular and respected restaurants in the city prepare exquisite four-course meals for guests that are enshrouded in total darkness as they dine. Another interesting element to the evening’s theme is that the meal is served by blind or visually impaired guides. As part of the Dialog in the Dark series currently at Atlantic Station, Dining in the Dark has a strict method of exclusivity, as on 16 people per dinner are allowed which makes for a more intimate and perhaps a more interesting experience. While it’s fairly easy to get lost in a room full of people, having an extremely small number of allotted people for this type of occasion is ripe with the possibilities of making new connections through food and lack of senses.
The great part is that this deliciously fabulous event takes once a month all the way until this summer, June 2011. What an exciting way to spend date night, girls night out, birthdays, anniversaries and other festive occasions that require a special celebration that you will forever remember. Tickets are $175 per couple and $95 for individuals. Ticket prices also include a tour through Dialog in the Dark prior to dinner. Tickets can be purchased at www.dialogtickets.com
Dining in the Dark is held at the Premier Exhibition Center at Atlantic Station, located at 265 18th St. 2nd Floor 866.866.8265
