Celebrity Living: Tom Brady & Gisele Bündchen

How much would you pay to hear Gisele Bündchen tell you where the aluminum cans go? Her husband Tom Brady places the value at more than $31 million, the total price of his latest property acquisition. It’s a classic quarterback meets supermodel real estate tale: He’s Boston’s-cum-America’s favorite quarterback, she’s a German-Brazilian bombshell, together, they are one untouchable couple playing house in one of L.A.’s most exclusive neighborhoods.

While the turf at Gillette Stadium is Brady’s house, the grass is apparently greener in Brentwood, Calif., where the New England All-Pro and his model wife now reside in a 22,000-square-foot mansion. Returning to his West Coast roots, the San Mateo-native purchased the 3.75-acre vacant parcel for $11.75 million in 2008. He has since overseen the building of an approximately $20 million house, constructed by Boston-based Suffolk Construction, whose CEO John Fish happens to be a good friend of Brady’s.

The superstar quarterback’s official off-season sprawling dream home is a two-story, eight-bedroom, Mediterranean-style palace, inclusive of a wine cellar, cardio and weight rooms, nursery for son Benjamin, elevator, six-car garage, covered bridge connecting two parts of the house and lagoon-shaped pool and spa boasting ocean and canyon views. Brady and Bündchen call Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Kevin Bright neighbors on Brentwood Country Estates’ Chalon Road.

The genetically-perfect pair have had their fair share of real estate dealings in the past. Bündchen sold her five-floor, four-bedroom townhouse in New York City’s West Village for $12.95 million in December 2009, as well as her West 11th Street triplex penthouse overlooking the Hudson for $4.4 million just a month earlier. The venerated Victoria’s Secret angel alumna sold her Devlin Drive house in the Hollywood Hills last year for almost $4 million.

Brady has had his name signed to a three-bedroom apartment at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, a 3,000-square-foot condominium on the 70th floor of the Time Warner Center, and a three-bedroom, 3,412-square foot condo occupying an entire floor of the historic Burrage Mansion building in Boston’s Back Bay area, which he sold for $5,285,000 in early 2008.

The Brady-Bündchen’s latest Boston-bordering home, a $10 million, 5,300-square-foot estate overlooking the Charles River in Brookline, Mass., was purchased by the couple in late 2009 from radio veteran Richie Balsbaugh.

What else is one to do when he wakes up next to the world’s top-earning supermodel and realizes his dream life counts a $72 million  contract (making him the highest-paid player in the NFL), being a three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback and being crowned Forbes’ best-dressed athlete? Deck his California dream home for the holidays. The couple reportedly spent $7,500 getting into the holiday spirit by purchasing two 12-foot Christmas trees and red, white and blue LED, solar powered lights.

Bündchen is a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Environment Programme and ensured that her new casa was built using recycled wood. She also added her supermodel touch to the home with the installation of solar panels, energy-saving lighting systems, rainwater recovery systems, waste reduction and recycling programs. Because nothing says sustainability like a supermodelled property with a $31 million price tag.

We’re green, with envy.
