Westime’s John Simonian Releases New Book: “Timepiece Machines”

For the past 35 years, John Simonian has worked in the world of luxury watches. As the owner of Westime boutiques in Los Angeles, names like Richard Mille, A.Lange & Söhne and Chopard are a part of his everyday vocabulary.

Simonian recalls that he had always been fascinated by how the design of luxury timepieces was often inspired by that of high-performance vehicles. He found the relationship so interesting, in fact, that this became the focus of his book, “Timepiece Machines: Stories of Speed, Endurance, and Design.”

When you think about it, watches move in intricate ways similarly to cars, boats and planes. Just as your luxury jet is really only of use to you if it flies, your watch is only good if it tells times. But of course, just like your mode of transportation of choice, the watch that you don also needs to be aesthetically beautiful and luxurious.

“Timepiece Machines” is the perfect coffee table book. Its 300-plus pages are filled includes hundreds of beautiful photograph of some of the world’s most elegant supercars, megayachts, jumbo jets and of course, watches. It’s available now at bookstores worldwide.
