Village of Merrick Park Lights Up the Holiday Season

It doesn’t feel like the holiday season until the tree is lit, and while a winter white Christmas Miami lacks, holiday lights it does not.  Village of Merrick Park is hosting its annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, Nov. 18 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The celebratory tree will be lit at 7:45 p.m., marking the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year.

Village of Merrick Park will cover its grounds with joy, bringing holiday festivities abound, including a musical performance by the Coral Gables High School Choir and a holiday greeting from Santa Claus, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and other spirited characters. Stilt walkers and jugglers will walk throughout The Garden, with various other children’s activities, such as a sugar cookie decoration station provided by Whole Foods Market Coral Gables and an arts and crafts station provided by Gymboree Play & Music, concurrently entertaining the crowd.

Belkys Nerey, head news anchor at FOX WSVN Channel 7, will be the magical evening’s Master of Ceremonies, while the environmentally friendly 50-foot tree, featuring 55,000 LED light bulbs, lights up the night. Take part in the opportune moment to take your first memorable photograph of the season around the breathtaking tree, and bring an unwrapped gift to donate to The Voices for Children Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising funds for abused and neglected children in Miami-Dade County.

With a trip to Village of Merrick Park this holiday shopping season, you’ll look and feel your best through the 12 days of Christmas, eight nights of Hanukkah, a midnight kiss and whatever cheer the wintertime may bring.

Village of Merrick Park is located at 358 San Lorenzo Ave., Coral Gables. For more information, visit www.villageofmerrickpark.com.
