Sweeten Up Saturdays With Sucre

Saturday errand lists can be epic: pick up the dry cleaning, drop off the dog at the groomers, buy the groceries, sell that Ikea mistake on Craigslist.com. Add in a sleigh-load of holiday shopping that needs to be done and it can be downright exhausting. That’s why we think that as the afternoon rolls around you should stop, take a breather and restore your sanity with a sweet bite or two at the new Sucre.

Sucre is the creation of pastry chef Monica Glass, who turns out the delectable dessert dishes at The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia’s 10 Arts restaurant. A happy hour-style dessert bar available every Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m, Sucre delivers sugar and surprise, whipped cream and whimsy.

The folks at Uwishunu.com got a sneak peak at the menu, and report that it includes little numbers like plum ginger yogurt panna cotta, s’mores tarts, macadamia nut brittle, white chocolate pomegranate cupcakes and pumpkin macaroons.

The mini-sized options come five for $20. Those on a mission to thoroughly  spoil their dinner can opt for a pairing menu where a series of desserts will be paired with beverages from the demure to that dangerous.

A rich slice of something chocolate-covered and perhaps a glass of sparkling champagne? Cap off a day of shopping for others with a little treat for yourself.

Sucre is within 10 Arts at The Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia, locate at 10 Avenue of the Arts, 215.523.8273, www.10arts.com.
