The season is most definitely upon us. From holiday coffee drinks to winter sales at just about every store, there’s no denying that even though you’re still in sunnies and sundresses, everyone is getting in the holiday spirit. And in high style, one of Orange County’s most beloved holiday celebrations is back. Fashion Island welcomes its iconic Christmas tree Friday, Nov. 18.
You might have spied Santa’s helpers setting up the tree the past few weeks (it arrived at the center Nov. 4th) but you haven’t seen it complete just yet. Making the journey from Mt. Shasta, the bare tree has been assembled with over 12,000 ornaments and lights. When it’s complete, the white fir will be recognized as one of the county’s most beloved holiday sights as shoppers hustle, bustle and gather their gifts this season.
Nov. 19 and 20 mark the two lighting ceremonies, so don’t fret if you miss one. The tree lighting celebration will feature performances by Orange County’s own Musical Theatre University, plus Broadway guest stars Nicole Parker and Tony-nominated Jonelle Allen. The celebrations conclude with the arrival of Santa Claus, as well as jugglers and magicians to ring in the festive season.
In addition to the celebration in the courtyard, Trina Turk will be hosting a special weekend celebration and raffle for revelers and eager shoppers. From Nov. 19 – 21, shoppers can bundle up with specials on coats and sweaters. As a bonus, shoppers who spend $250 or more will receive a pair of fingerless gloves to stave the chill.
The Fashion Island christmas tree and tree lighting celebration are located in the Neiman Marcus-Bloomingdale’s Courtyard at the center.
