Haute Rolls: Yumbii Serves Gourmet on Wheels

Yumbii: Far Out Food is the latest food trend in Atlanta and the first truck to serve gourmet food on the streets of our city. When I first heard about this new mobile restaurant, I was not surprised that Carson Young, an old friend from my high school days at Woodward Academy, was behind the madness.

If you have not heard about the Yumbii truck , you are missing out on some great Asian-Mexican-inspired Southern rolls. Sound complicated? Just try one. You will understand. Focusing on Korean tacos, the menu, which sometimes changes on a daily basis, includes a Korean BBQ taco, a Korean BBQ burrito, a quesadilla and pork sliders.  Even those who are not big on barbecue have the option to replace the pork with beef, chicken or stir-fried tofu.  Oh, and don’t forget the Sesame Fries with chipotle ketchup.

The trick (or secret) behind the fresh and delicious food is Carson’s partner Chef Thomas Lee, owner of Hankook Taqueria. The marinated fresh meat and special sauces for Yumbii’s menu are prepared by Chef Lee and his staff.  After being loaded on the truck, the food is assembled and garnished in the truck’s tiny kitchen. Then off they go.

So, where can we spot this Yumbii truck? Tuesdays and Thursdays, Yumbii is stationed at Prominence in Buckhead office building (3475 Piedmont RD) from 11:30 a.m-2:00 p.m. On Wednesdays, same time the Yumbii truck is stationed at the intersection of Defoor Ave and Howell Mill Rd. They are also available for private booking. Make sure to follow Yumbii: Far Out Food on twitter for some surprise locations and treats.

Next time you see the bright blue truck rolling down Atlanta’s streets, make sure to follow!
