Haute Event: Lingerie New York 2010

On Thursday, Oct. 21, the Seven Bar Foundation held an exclusive attention-garnering lingerie fashion show at Cipriani 42nd Street to raise money and awareness for its cause. The event, which was called “Lingerie New York 2010” (what else!?) was just one of the foundation’s series of lingerie shows that take place in L.A., Miami and 15 other world cities. And no, their cause isn’t helping to dress women or provide them with undergarments. Instead, the foundation is dedicated to helping micro-finance women in need to help them start their own businesses.

A slew of famous models like Elsa Benitez, Liya Kebede, Crystal Renn and Veronica Webb walked the runway in sexy ensembles by Carine Gilson and Atsuko Kudo to music deejayed by actress Michelle Rodriguez. The evening was hosted by Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara, who expressed her support of the cause: “We need people to pay attention…what calls more attention than beautiful women in G-strings?” she said. A very accurate statement considering that hundreds of New York’s elite showed up for to the event, including the Real Housewives and many professional athletes. In all, the event was a huge success, raising more than $500,000 for the Seven Bar Foundation, whose goal, they say with a smile, is to “Empower women on a G-string, rather than a shoe-string.”
