Get out and get walking! At Zoo Atlanta on Saturday November 20, do some good for others, in this case the children of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and participate in the 5K walk to raise money for cancer-stricken children and their treatment. This is the season when we all should do something special and worthy for others who are in need, so get a head start and spread a little holiday spirit to benefit the kids.
St. Jude has made a lifetime commitment to the fight of childhood cancer. The Give thanks. Walk. will take place in over 60 communities across the country as family, friends and supporters of children afflicted with cancer put on their walking shoes and put their best foot forward to aid in stomping out cancer. Participants are encouraged to sign up in teams, recruiting family, co-workers and friends, and help with sponsorship opportunities as well.
Zoo Atlanta is the ideal place for the 5K, as Atlanta children frequent regularly and enjoy the atmosphere of the animals and the overall fun, free spirit vibe it provides. Participants will enjoy a beautiful, scenic view as they complete the 3 ½ laps around the zoo structure. Walker registration begins at 7 a.m. and walking begins at 7:45 at the Ford Pavilion. Walkers raising $35 receive a Give thanks. Walk. t-shirt, walkers raising $100 receive a t-shirt and accompanying water bottle, walkers raising $100 or more receive a free ticket to Zoo Atlanta to use at their disposal, and walkers raising $250 receive t-shirt, water bottle and St. Jude’s tote bag.
