What Made Him Haute: This ambitious fashion designer and brilliant businessman, most notable for his Polo Ralph Lauren clothing line, stated in high school that he wanted to be a millionaire. Now included on the Forbes 400 list, he has succeeded his goal in spades.
What Makes Him Haute Now: Even in the economic crisis, Polo Ralph Lauren is one of the notable stocks on the rise, up 3 percent. This comes as no surprise as Ralph Lauren has consistently brought sophisticated style to the masses for years now. Rugby, the luxury lifestyle brand from Ralph Lauren, has been signed by Capital & Counties Properties to premier as its first store in the UK. The store is set to open in one of London’s most prestigious neighborhoods, Covent Garden. Along with the opening of the store, other retail locations such as Burberry, Apple and Kurt Geiger will also open their doors.
In honor of the 10th anniversary of Ralph Lauren’s Pink Pony campaign, the organization collaborated with CharityBuzz.com to host a charitable auction. The Pink Pony campaign is dedicated to fighting breast cancer through funding international programs for cancer screening, early diagnosis, treatment, and patient recovery. The proceeds from the charity aided the Pink Pony Fund and some of the items up for bid included: a personal tour of Ralph Lauren’s car collection, playing polo with Argentinean polo player and Ralph Lauren model Nacho Figueras at the Breakers in Palm Beach, playing golf with Tom Watson for a day, a weekend in Paris including a shopping trip and dinner at Ralph’s, Kate Hudson signed fringe bag, and many more.
Ralph Lauren Home also recently announced that it has signed an exclusive licensing agreement with Safavieh. Safavieh will produce area rugs under both the Ralph Lauren Home and Lauren Ralph Lauren Home brands.
