Haute 100 Miami Update: George Feldenkreis

At the Miami-Dade County’s Beacon Council meeting last week George Feldenkreis played a big role.

What Made Him Haute: George Feldenkreis, who left Cuba after Castro came into power, founded Perry Ellis International in 1967. He currently serves as chairman and CEO, while his son, Oscar, is president and COO. Feldenkreis is a member of the board of directors of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, a trustee of the Simon Wiesenthal Board, a member of the board of directors of the American Apparel and Footwear Association, and is a trustee of the University of Miami. He is also a director of Federal-Mogul Corporation, an auto part company.

What Makes Him Haute Now: George Feldenkreis was not only the keynote speaker and fashion contributor at the Miami-Dade County Beacon council meeting, he also received an award while in attendance. The Beacon council’s Fashion-Lifestyle Initiative gives the crystal Beacon award to individuals in Miami-Dade County that have outstanding accomplishments in either the fashion or lifestyle industry. During the meeting there was also a fashion show where some of the latest pieces of Feldenkries’ Jantzen clothing line were showcased. The meeting took place aboard Celebrity Cruises latest ship addition the Eclipse.
