Category: Athletes

Industry: Basketball

Company: L.A. Lakers

What Made Him Haute: With 11 NBA titles as a coach (six with the Chicago Bulls, and five with the Lakers), Jackson is considered one of the greatest coaches in NBA history. He will have a chance at a fourth three-peat championship when he returns for his 11th season with the Lakers and his 20th in his career.

What Makes Him Haute: Released earlier this month, “Journey to the Ring” is a black and white photography book chronicling the Lakers’ road through the 2009-2010 season, all the way to the title. Though this is being advertised largely as a coffee-table book, it doesn’t fail to take advantage of the dry humor and wit that coach Phil Jackson is ready to supply it with. The book is also filled with insight to the game’s plays from Jackson, and personal knowledge about his players. “His narrative adds an eye for detail, allowing fans to learn not only how the Boston Celtics tried to stop Kobe Bryant in the Finals but why something is written on a shoe or how players practice pre-game rituals.” Last year’s edition went to the top of the Wallstreet Journal’s Bestsellers List.
