What Made Him Haute: Everything. He has been Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor for as long as we can remember, and his acting abilities are on par. The superstar is also known for his social and liberal political activism.
What Makes Him Haute: This past month, on top of having to attend to his hectic filming schedule that includes directing and acting in the new movie The Ides of March, George Clooney traveled to Sudan on a mission to increase awareness for the political situation in the country. Accompanied by John Prendergast, he set out to find out more about the January referendum that will decide if Northern and Southern Sudan will split up. And once there, stopped to learn more about the region of Abyei, a place that has been much affected by conflicts within the country over the last decade.
The upcoming ballot, which has the power to divide the country and thereby change its political and social structures, results in a looming war in Sudan. According to U.S. Intelligence, it is the place with the biggest risk in the globe of mass killing and genocide within the next year. Clooney’s mission this time is to ask for aid before it turns into what could be the next Darfur.
