There are many Haute things about this holiday season like designer bags wrapped up in big red bows, fancy dinners at holiday galas, and all those very sparkly ornaments at Tiffany’s, but we think one of the most Haute things you can do during this season is give back. Here’s a list of the Top 5 charities in San Diego (but please know, we think they’re all Top list material, as any form of giving is pretty amazing!)
1 Father Joe's Villages
Father Joe's is probably one of the most well-known charities in all of California, not just San Diego. Creating what has now grown to an entire movement of people helping the homeless population of SD and surrounding areas. Father Joe is a real man, who for 60 years has made this his mission, and he is a great person for his continual efforts. From Thanksgiving meals, to their HUGE Thanksgiving 5k, to their annual toy drive, to their mobile health clinic year round, and all the other amazing services they're providing out here, Father Joe's is an incredible charity to support and contribute to with time, money, or any other means you have at hand. Thank you, Father Joe and all who work for you and your name.

2 It's All About The Kids
It's All About the Kids is a fantastic organization in San Diego, and their name obviously says it all. Combined with Partying for a Purpose (could there be a better name?), their fundraising branch, they put on events all over San Diego and in conjunction with many organziations to benefit the children of SD in need in a variety of ways. This holiday season Partying for a Purpose is holding toy drives all over the place and accepting donations for the children this year that would otherwise go without on this Christmas. We salute you and offer up our many, many thanks to you lovely people!

3 81st Annual Candlelight Ball-Scripps Memorial Hospital
Last year, this event raised over $3 million dollars for the Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. To say it's an event is a huge understatement, and this year it's being held at the incomparably gorgeous Grand Del Mar resort. On December 4, 2010 expect San Diego's pinnacle of society to show up and raise just as much again this year, to benefit San Diego's most esteemed health institution. Thank you, Candlelight Ball, for hosting such a charitable venture!
4 San Diego Food Bank UT Food Drive
With economic times being a little rougher this year, the San Diego Food Bank's annual food drive is even more important than ever, and with the help of the entire community, the food drive kicked off November 1st and has been going strong. With 350 charity partners and a continued devotion to providing holiday meals, and meals year round, to our communitie's neediest patrons, the 2010 food drive is a great way to give back. Thank you, SD Food Bank, for all you do!
