They come in many colors, flavors, textures and names, they are the choice accessory for a fashionista’s night on the town, they fit perfectly in your hand and thanks to the ladies of Sex and the City, cocktails, and martinis in particular, are the drinks of choice when you want to make a libation statement. Their ultra-flirty, sexy nature and their ability to make you order well over your limit, speaks to the appeal of the martini. Atlanta has several spots to sip the fruity concoction; here are the top spots to grab a martini in style.
Beluga Martini Bar
If “martini” is in the name of your establishment you better be prepared to deliver and this hot spot doesn’t disappoint. A resident fixture on several “best of” lists, Beluga is a trendy Buckhead haunt that is guaranteed to have any type of martini you desire. From an extensive martini menu, to those that are served up at request, you will definitely leave satisfied. There are so many menu standouts I don’t know where to start! Some favorites include: pomegranate pucker, hard candy, Washington apple, perfect pineapple, peachy keen and razz-berry good. I recommend sampling more than a few so that you can tell all your friends about the tasty experience. Bonus: check out the live entertainment from local bands and musicians during the week.

Red Sky Tapas & Bar
This is one place where you can skip the dessert and instead substitute it for a martini because the innovative flavors of the signature martinis are sweet enough to indulge even the most greedy sweet tooth fiend. Tucked away nicely within the confines of Marietta, Red Sky is the perfect place to have great cocktails and also great food, as their menu is just as impressive as their martinis. But, let’s get back to the drinks. A few of their most popular cocktails include: almond joy, chocolate dipped cherry, chocolate kiss, watermelon splash and mango-licious. Pair that with some mouth-watering tapas and you have an amazing evening ahead of you. Please try the blue cheese stuffed Spanish olives, roasted corn & lobster dip, creamy goat cheese risotto or the seared tenderloin tacos, so good you will order seconds at lighting speed.

In the heart of Midtown, there is no better place to be seen, people watch or couple up with sexy Atlanta singles. HALO stays open late, (til 3 a.m.) is so massive that you won’t be able to decide which area to remain for the evening and offers some of the best martinis and tapas in the city. Beautifully constructed bars and lounge areas, coupled with upscale furnishings provide perfect eye candy for the patrons. The DJ spins a little of everything so there is no excuse not get out on the dance floor and debut some hot moves. Classic martinis are offered, as well as signature ones and those asked for by request. The best way to fully appreciate HALO is to experience it for yourself…what are you waiting for? Go!

I’ll admit it. I am extremely biased to this entry on the list because it just so happens to be one of my favorite places in all of Atlanta. Smack dab in the middle of the Midtown metropolis lies Shout, with so many options for food, atmosphere, cocktails and people-watching, you’d be hard-pressed to find fault with anything. Boasting three levels and a lush interior of warm primary colors, Shout is a visual fest. Start things off with dinner on the ground level, while sampling the shrimp and grits, lobster quesadillas, fried twin lobster tails or the Scottish salmon. Head upstairs to the second level to dance your meal away and partake in choice martinis, sangria and cosmopolitans. The house DJ is excellent and spins the hottest hits and oldies on select nights. To cool off and wind your evening down (or to just find a quiet spot with that special someone) head up to the much talked about rooftop bar that has an absolutely breathtaking view of the city. With private cabanas draped in white decadent fabric you’ll want to come every night of the week. Don’t feel guilty, I’ve been known to do the same thing!

Let’s just get the details out of the way first. Three levels, five bars, three dance floors and state-of-the-art VIP accommodations. Now that you know what to expect, let me explain the overall experience. There is so much to do and so many things to focus on; it’s easy to feel like a kid on Christmas morning. Some of the best bartenders in the city are at this Midtown oasis that has some of the best martinis, mojitos and cosmos you’ve ever tasted. I like to play a little game called “stump the bartender,” where I come up with cocktail concoctions to try and puzzle them, but it never works…they are that good. There is really no best time to go because every night is epic. Take my advice and party hard at CosmoLava whenever you’re in the area.
