You have your Nook, your iPad and your Kindle, but nothing will ever take the place of the real deal. And if the books you’re inclined to flip through are more novelties than novels, the new Assouline Books, Gifts & Gallery, now open, will be better than any e-Reader you can get your hands on.

Known for collectible books on travel, fashion, art and architecture, luxury publishing house Assouline has made a name for itself by creating beautiful keepsake books that range from tiny bedside tomes on fashion to huge coffee table books bigger than some coffee tables. Their newest store is unique — the only one of it’s kind in the world, it’s a combination of gift shop, bookstore and personal space. Designed to resplicate founder Prosper Assouline’s own personal library, the boutique reads more like a culture lounge.

With rich walls adorned with a rotating collection of limited edition prints and Slim Aarons photos alongside personally curated art from Prosper’s world travels and curios spread throughout the store, it’s anything but a big box bookshop. The store will also carry vintage bookends, leather bags (a collab with MCM), stationery and candles hand-picked by Prosper alongside gilt-edged leather notebooks, special edition printings of Assouline titles and a Goyard trunk containing dozens of Assouline favorites.

Sure to become a go-to spot to find just the thing for someone in your life who has everything, the Assouline boutique is will also offer book personalization and library design, so you can literally take the store home with you.

Assouline Books, Gifts & Gallery is located at South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol St. in Costa Mesa, 714.557.1882.
